Default Fat Bob with Side Mounted License Plate

Anyone here that has a Fat Bob with Side Mounted License Plate care to comment on what they used, how they like it? How is cornering to the left, etc.?

Trying to decide if I want to go this route and cleanup under the tail light.

Thanks.

Funny - I just noticed one in a pic on a different posting, he actually mounted it on the right side of his Fat Bob - check the post for the ebay/amazon tribar tail light

Mine is side-mounted vertically that attaches to the swing arm, which I was told is no longer legal in some states. Oh well, I haven't been hassled about it yet. Mine is an after market part but I got it over a year ago and can't remember exactly from where. I just remember I ordered it through one of the bike shops in town. Mine is also without a light for the plate, which is kind of ridiculous considering you don't need one in daylight and at night headlights behind you will illuminate it more than any puny light will. I rationalize it by saying we need more laws in this country. And yes, that came with a VERY high dose of sarcasm.

I have a Road 6 Customs vertical side mount bracket with a Radiantz chrome LED frame. Total cost was around 50 bucks. The bracket is solid and excellent quality, yet very simple.

I got a Road6Customs vertical using LED tag bolts. Had it for 4 years with no issues and mounted it to the bolt holding the belt guard.

I have the billet aluminum mount from Figure Machine. You can run it vertical or horizontal and its fully adjustable in any direction. You can also choose any color LED lighting you want. Its a little spendy (around 150) but the quality and craftsmanship is top notch.

In Ca, the plate must be horizontal but enforcement is non-existent unless you are at a club gathering or the LEO has a ****-on.

5201. (a) License plates shall at all times be securely fastened to
the vehicle for which they are issued so as to prevent the plates
from swinging, shall be mounted in a position so as to be clearly
visible, and so that the characters are upright and display from left
to right

That's what's nice about the FM plate mount. If you get hassled you can change it to horizontal in about 5 minutes.

I got a Figure engineering LED one like another poster mentioned. Nice quality. Had them cut the backing plate slots rotated 90-degrees from how they usually cut them so I could mount it horizontally (required in MD) and adjust it in/out. Then, had a friend machine a longer bracket so the plate is behind the caliper. This way, I can tuck it in all the way ... it sits about 1/8" off the rotor and the exhaust pipes stick out farther than the plate. Bracket has since been powder coated black to match the frame/backing plate.
