Because you're talking about sticking something On something else to make it look like something it's not. Just an opinion.

You are correct, we may need to notify everyone on this forum to immediately stop modifying their motorcycles from factory stock condition.

Such a benign thread to get testy over… Pan Head retrofit covers look nice IMO. Go for it.

Well, Zim...I see you have a real panhead; just remember that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

the OP asked for opinions. When one came up sayin figuratively, they look fake. OH **** every body's feathers get all ruffled.
Personally I agree with Zim. Maybe I'll put a corvette emblem on my pickup.

Ferrari vans and Corvette pickups are a bit of a stretch from using old styled HD parts on a new HD...but I hear you; my bike is not a "panhead" per se...so where do we draw the line on this and still respect the styling? I'll probably go for the panhead covers just to invoke a nostalgic styling cue...I wouldn't want a real panhead; I ride too much to put up with ancient technology (27 states and 7 provinces) but I do wanna have a bike that stands out for me in the sea of HD's one encounters at times. Truth is; most people who will see the bike on the road have not a clue of HD history but just know if it looks good or not to them...but I've already seen springer and even leaf front ends on Dyna's...that's where I would draw the line.

I sense a few sarcastic remarks here.... hopefully no one is taking them too far...
As for the covers, I say do it.
