Default Wheel bearing question

This might be a dumb question but i need to ask it...i have a set of cast wheels and im not sure which size bearings are in them..first is there an easy way to measure to find out? Should i change them out anyway reguardless? Do i need to change the front and rear bearings? Thanks...

Measure the diameter of the inner race, bearings go by axle size.

If they end up being the applicable bearing for your axle, you can keep em. Or change em out for some peace of mind if mileage is unknown.

Are there any part numbers visible on the bearings?

I was able to find a part number on the bearing itself then cross reference it on jp cycles website and found that they are the older bearings from a 07 and older...which are 1 inch...thanks for the info much appreciated

Harley has different part numbers for the front and rear wheel bearings...41455-08c front and 41451-08b rear...whats the difference? Is one spacer longer and need to be cut?

Pete, does your 2012 FXDC have ABS?

The parts diagram at Ronnie's shows models with and without specific ABS/non ABS bearings.....

When I put the new chrome Switchback wheels on mine I ran into a few problems with the wheel bearings. The wheels are machined for the "older" bearings, '07 and older use double roller berings that are wider. When they switched to 25mm in '08 the bearings are narrower. I had new bearing put in the SB wheels, the right side bearing sticks out 1/8" past the hub. I ended up machining down the right side spacer.
