Default Questions for you who added 7" headlight

I ordered the c01050356 7" chrome headlight from BKriders. It comes with the mount but I have a feeling from reading other post that I may want to bring it in closer to the frame.

For those of you that have done this what bracket did you use. (really don't want to pay $49.99 for the harley mount.

For those of you that used the same headlight, can you explain how you wired it in?

Thanks

I got my 7" bucket off a Softail. The mounting block was nice and tight to the bike. If you dont like yours, can probably find a used one.

I also went with the LED from Trucklite Phase 7, its plug and play. The only issue was the light stuck out a bit from the housing, so added a frenched cuff and looks good. Great light.

Good to know because I refuse to pay 50 bucks for a mount for a 70 dollar light. Just doesn't make much sense.

It would be pretty easy to make a new mount block that sets it back a bit

I figured with my original and the one coming with the new light, I should be able to trim it. We'll see when it get here.

Meanwhile if anyone hears of a softail bracket for cheep, let me know

The cleanest and easiest way to rewire your new light is remove the wires from the oem bulb socket with a small screwdriver (the pins are easy to release once you figure it out) then pull the wires out of the headlight. Mount the new light and feed wires back thru it and snap them back into the original socket.

Ya Tony, I'm not a fan of splicing wires on my bike. I was leaning towards your idea or if the wires that come on the light are long enough, just exchange plugs?

Have you switched your light out?

I haven't changed it out yet, its been sitting in my garage for a year along with a few other projects lol Im sure I have the exact same light. If I wasn't in AK working I could measure the wires for you. Im thinking they would probably be long enough.

I heard they was an extra wire that you don't use. I could just wait until it gets here but I'm the type that has to install as soon as the package hits the door.
