Default throttle / idle cable?

wondering which cable is which? i need to order the little clip that holds the cable into the throttle hand control and they sell them sepreatley because one is bigger diameter than the other. i need the smaller one which is the cable closest to rider when sitting on the bike. would that be considered throttle or idle cable?

It's simple. Twist the throttle and watch the cables movement, the one that pulls is the throttle cable, the other cable will be return.

The one closest to the rider is the idle cable.
But my ferrals are the same size.

Closet to the rider is the idle cable. I'd just get rid of it!! Oh and my ferrels are the same as well. Not sure why they would make them a different size.

thanks for the help guys. and it is not the ferrel im looking for. it is a clip that holds the outer cable sheath into the the throttle housing. is it safe/ok to get rid of it? i know most of my other motorcycles have only had one cable. if a cable broke the carb spring would shut the butterfly so i dont really understand why they have 2 cables.

Why get rid of 1 cable? You still got a brake line coming down from the same spot? I could see cleaning it up if you weren't running a front brake, but IMO 3 lines don't look anymore cluttered than 2. If you cracked it open and lost the spring on the carb/throttle body or something hung up, I don't think you could push it back closed with just the 1 cable

It will be fine!! I've ran without the idle cable for 4+ years and never had an issue. Its there if the spring breaks on the Throttle body. I haven't heard of those snapping on a regular basis....ever. Carbureted cars or non drive by wire vehicles don't have a return cable and they have worked fine for years and years.

Do you have a part number for those retaining rings? I have a couple of old but perfectly serviceable cables I could use some new rings for...
