Thinking of purchasing Vance and Hines competition drag pipes for my 99 fxdl. Im looking for a upgrade in power and sound vs stock.My concern is,I want more power and louder pipes but not to the point of being so loud your ears ring after a long ride.If any members here have experience with these pipes and can share some info i would appreciate it. I have went to Utube and listened to some,but hard to tell from that. Thanks in advance!

 

I wouldnt expect any additional power from just adding pipes, short free flowing pipes can rob power and are known to be some of the loudest pipes. Changing the baffles in a pipe can mellow them out. If you want more power you should do a complete stage 1 (exhaust, ac & tune)

 

Thanks. yes these are full length pipes,but not sure if they have baffles.

 

Im sure the V&H will come with baffles
