I had trouble justifying paying HD $40 for a windshield lock to keep someone from easily stealing my $150 Ebay quick detachable shield. Probably would feel a little more protective if I'd paid full retail. However, I found an answer at Ace hardware: 11" Stainless Steel Cable Ties (aka Zip Ties) that cost something like $3 for a 10 pack. I just run one around the fork tube and the windshield bracket and pull tight. The 11" length is perfect and since they're stainless it's really hard to see them against the chrome. These are rated to 100 lbs so there's no way someone can remove one without a pair of cutters. Maybe my best under $10 purchase for piece of mind.

 

This sounds good, how bout a couple of pix. I'd like to see, would they scratch the fork tubes?

 

Don't give HD any ideas. They might be selling Zipties with the HD logo and charge $40 for a ten pack.
