Tried polishing fork sliders!
I am waiting for some parts to arrive before I can do the final install of my new front wheel.
I thought it would be a good time to polish my sliders, but although it looks better, I am somewhat disappointed.
I used chemical stripper, but then jumped to 1000, 1200, 2000 then 0000 steel wool and finished with Nevr-dull.
I think I should have at least started with 800...maybe even lower. I don't have scratches, but I do have a duller finish than I was expecting.
Probably just going to roll with it for now.

You need to buff them with a wheel if you want a mirror surface, tripoli compound an then white rouge. Then you use a polish and wax to keep them shiny.

Not too bad considering. My starting grit totally depends on what I'm working with initially.
But, yes, I would have started with a courser grit, then finished on the buffing wheel.

I was thinking of getting some Flitz or Simichrome, but I don't believe it will help it much.
It is smooth and shiney, but just not as deep as chrome if that makes sense.
I just looked at it again, and I like it enough to not worry too much about it...maybe.

When I get my wheels on, you can put yours on the lift next! I am going to stick to doing the motor work...
There's your bike over there in case you miss it...she is nice and warm!

Love that fatdaddy wheel! Yes, polished sliders make a huge difference. Get a mini flitz ball for maintenance, no regret!
