Twice now in the past month my Speedometer has just cut out in the middle of a ride. Turn signals fail to switch off and the gear indicator disappears on the LED. Both times the Speedo came back to life when I either stopped at a light or shut it down completely. Both times I took it to Harley and their service tech couldn't determine the cause based on the error code. I'm not sure I can access these errors since they reset it both times, handed the bike back and called it a glitch. This is a four month old bike folks. I'm not trying to bash Harley. They will make it right, just wondering if anyone else has experienced similar problems and know what it may be?
I had that happen to me and the cause was the big ECM connector was not making good contact. I fixed it with a couple of small zip ties after cleaning the pins and socket.
Your bike has a different wiring system than mine so I don't know if that helps.
Thanks. They mentioned a control module as a possible cause. Are bikes that difficult to trouble shoot?
Normally, not too much; but the latest HD bikes use a CanBUS. Electronic system that requires a computer to test internal electronics. One thing you can do is check plug connections to make sure everything is plugged together tightly.
Under the seat and behind the left side electrical box cover there are some connectors. But here is another under the dash panel.
