Default New exhaust installed!

Bike came with Slip ons, PC3, and stage 1 intake/filter tune to this setup. I installed a Patriot Defender 2-1 last night and have a couple of questions. The pipes seem hotter than usual - could this 2-1 have made me run leaner than before? Also - seems to be some engine noise that wasn't there before the new pipes but I do not see how this would be possible - maybe just in my head or something to do with the new exhaust tone/resonating/something?? New pic from last night in my sig. Thanks!

Probably need to adjust the PC III for the new pipes. Should sound a lot different but make sure that you do not have any exhaust leaks where the pipes attach to the cylinder heads. Did you use the correct exhaust gaskets, there are different types...

Pipes look good, but look like they could drag in a hard right hander.

Thanks! The gaskets looked fine so I reused them and I checked tonight with it running. I'm assuming I could feel it around the head ports and they both seemed nice and tight with nothing coming out I could notice, nor could I hear anything from there...

The sound will change as you carbon up the pipes too.

I check my header gaskets with a cigar or cigarette. The slightest air movement will make the smoke move.
Different exhaust means new tune.

Good idea on the cigarette - Ill try that just to double check. Any idea on my "noise?" Is there anything to do with swapping pipes that could cause engine noise if it were for some reason running horrible because of the pipe change? I don't think so, but wanted to make sure.....

Not really unless these are quieter and you can now hear the engine better.
There are times when we make a change we hear a different noise than before and think I never heard that before.
Where does the sound seem to be coming from?
Heads, cams, primary?
There is a lot of things moving inside these engines.
Like your bike.
I have a 05 super glide to and really like it a lot.
Yes new pipes will and can make a different sound. Once they carbon up some it will sound different some.

Thanks! Yeah I love it - had a Sportster before and this fits me better. Its an 05 with 4500 miles on it and was 100% stock - got it for $6,500 a few months ago, couldn't pass it up!

That was a good deal.
My wife likes the super glide more than her wide glide. Go figure.
your gonna love it. Just keep a eye on the oil level.
Some of the 05's had a problem with valve seals leaking.
At 7,000 miles had to get em replaced.

Looks good!

I think you might be hearing more engine noise because all your exhaust is exiting at the same point now towards the back of the bike. Before, the front muffler was somewhere around mid bike.

The heat I think probably has to do with the exhaust from both header pipes collecting into one muffler, before there was two mufflers.
