Default 2012 Street Bob - reasonable price?

Been looking to get my first bike for a while and was considering the 1200C or a 48

Went into a dealership today and loved this bike;

Attachment 623696

2012 Street Bob
3700 miles
Mint condition
Pretty much stock

I am hopeful of getting it for around $9500 plus tax

Would that be a decent price for this model?

Anything I should be aware of?

First mods would be the exhaust and likely seat

What else would you do - have been reading about lowering it a bit?

Is that simply smaller shocks at the back

But any views/comments would be appreciated

Cheers

Yes, that's a good price. Probably a great price.

You really need to ditch that couch/seat thing.

Pipes/intake/tuner just to wake it up.

Suspension would be second. Shocks and a front spring upgrade.

After that, it's all about the fit and finish.

That's a damn good price. KBB has it listed at $11,700. That seat isn't stock and in my opinion is ugly as sin. If it was me, I'd drop that seat and go back to the solo seat. You could just leave the passenger pegs in case you ever want to run with a back seat warmer. I don't have any experience with them but I've heard good things about the Burly slammer kit to lower. Only thing you have to think about is how much lean angle you'll lose.

Im pretty much in the same boat as you. Only i bought my first bike spring of 2013, '95 sporty 883. Awesome first bike, loved that thing. But after a year of riding it, I as well want to get something bigger. So personally i think its a good decision (depending on your riding style) to go straight to a dyna. I have heard the weight doesnt feel much heavier than a sporty due to the engine being lower on the dyna. As far as the price goes that seems like a killer deal, been waiting for pretty much the exact same thing to pop up in the twin cities area. I agree with SLV on the mods. At least gotta get some pipes. Good luck and keep us updated!

$9500 is a great price...brand new iits 14000+ you will b very happy with that as your first bike...however the sportsters are nice they are a bit small imo....good luck...as far as lowering it a new seat and the burly slammer kit would cost less than $200 here on the forum...

I wondered about the seat as it didn't seem to match the look

Any seat recommendations - solo rider 99.9% of the time

Pipes - probably V&H as I like the look/sound and come at a reasonable price

Regarding weight - I thought it did feel a lot heavier than the 1200C, but nothing too much

But the look and feel - just fantastic, especially with the price being pretty good as well

Seems like a great price I'd go for it. If it's been sitting there for a while you may be able to get the dealer to throw in a stock solo seat for free. My bike had that same seat on it when I bought it, and I was able to talk the dealer into throwing in a seat. Other then that, the sky's the limit on these things man, you could go several different ways with it. If it were mine I'd lift it not slam it but that's just me. Just remember that when you start throwing money at it, your not gonna get it back on resale, as long as your ok with that, search the forum, get some ideas and go broke!
