If there is a screw/nail, etc deep into the tire and it isn't flat, it has to be a tubeless. Put a hole in a tube and the air goes bye-bye in a hurry. Did tubes on dirt bikes for years and I Know a FLAT when I see/feel it.
Easy way to tell, if the the stem is all rubber and seals around the wheel, it is tubeless. If the stem is metal and may or may not have a nut on the outside threads, it is a tube type...Some tubes have stems that are all rubber, but they don't seal to the wheel like a tubeless stem does. (mounted tires on cars and bikes for years, for a living in the 70's, hopefully I know a tube when I see it,.)
FWIW, my 2011 FXDC has tubed tires, I checked, just to be sure... tp
