Cams would be your next step.

Yes. Your heads can handle close to .600 lift. How do you ride? Where do you want the power? How much are you willing to spend? Big bore and cams would have you whoopin up on 103s.

With keeping all internals and limiting only to bolt ons...

> A premium ignition system with fuel & ignition logging and mapping will sure squeeze every last BTU out of each drop of gas. You buy the part, install it in an hour and find a talented dyno guy to dial it in. Good ones ain't cheap. Budget $350-$500 plus dyno time.

> 2>1 pipe. It seems you are past the fashion statement stage so a ballsout Patriot Defender will give you benchmark performance at such a comparatively low price many just immediately completely discount them. Yeah, it will scrape.

That 03 screamin eagle is just a 95" with 203s, assuming the motor is stock. Big bore and some good cams will more than keep up with that bike. If you can afford it have a little headwork done while they're off and it will be even better.

Your 88 kinda stands where my 96 does. Our question is how can we get to 100HP/120TQ in one Saturday afternoon's time and on a $1,000 max budget, complete.

1) Gotta have headwork. Period. At least the old 'port & polish' to enlarge, smooth & blend the valve pockets and combustion chambers. BadBoyz does something like this for only $299? Wow! I prefer Hammer and/or NRHS's CNC work for $550 for Stage I heads or $750 for Stage II with oversize valves and badass springs. It has been shown that headwork alone contributes the most initially over any other single other component. I'm going to just the Stage I for now and then sending them back in for the Stage II valve upgrade needed to fill the 107" in my next phase.

2) Needs a cam. Period. Walk right past all the torquer cams and build a streetable hot rod. Lots out there with S&S offering an EZ Start for a compression release. For value, their S&S 570 will swing both ways from kickin *** in your current 88" to making itself just as home in your possible 95" later.

3) Still need a programmable/remappable ignition system.
