Default My '14 Street Bob Plate/Signal Relocation

Here's my take on the '13-'14 Street Bob license plate / turn signal relocation. I originally had the HD Plate Relocation Kit and Signal Relocation Kit. Both are pretty poor implementations by Harley. I'm including a pic of that method but it really doesn't do the goofiness justice.

I did what others have done and cut down the HD plate mount so the top part of the mount was the new bottom. I then added a Grifter Storage Box as the plate mount/frame. Then I used some hardware store bits to put the tail lights on the HD plate mount too. I also switched to black tail lights. I don't generally consider myself a "all blacked out" kind of guy but lets face it, almost everything on the bike is black already, especially on the back end.

I'd like to thank SLV and SquidHead for their previous work on this problem. Their ideas were the basis for mine.

Looks great Jdub. I actually considered some sort of box. I was going to put the TS stems and wires inside for a clean look. I wasn't aware of that specific box.

Very nice! Squid and SLV definitely hooked us all up with their trials on this mod...

That looks great. I also went with other contributors suggestions here and moved mine, and I think it looks good, but with the thicker box, this looks better-proportioned.

Quick question: are you working on putting a license plate light on this set-up ? It would be cop bait here without it.

Thanks to the guys who came up with these ideas.

There are a few ways you can light the plate. I bought some
LED light strip LED light strip
on Amazon and trimmed it to fit inside my plate frame, then wired it into the light connector. It's really thin and tucks neatly between the plate and frame.

Another option I considered was to use lighted bolts. Custom Dynamics makes some that also double as turn sigs.

I should add that in CO, nowhere in our revised statutes does it say our plates need to be illuminated. However, I do have some inexpensive contingency plans in mind. There are outer (meaning on top the plate) frames for about $40 (Amazon, ebay, etc.) that have an integrated LED light that would be easy to add to my setup.

As for paying, the unfortunate thing about this mod is that for me the base price includes the HD Plate Relocation which is not inexpensive. Hopefully in the future some third parties will come up with an off the shelf product that does all we need. If the 2015 and 2016 FXDBs have the same rear end scheme I imagine that eventually the aftermarket will fill the gap.

In the meantime I would be happy to brainstorm with anyone who wants to attempt something similar.
