Default Denim Paint Protection

I was wanting some type of material to put under some bags to keep the leather from rubbing the denim paint. I was wondering about neoprene or even using mouse pads trimmed up to size. My @ss is cheap so low budget ideas are appreciated!

I bought a roll of that anti slip matting at Walmart. It's typically used to line trailer cupboards to keep dishes from sliding around.

Be careful using the anti slip matting. The rubber it is made out of can actually deteriorate into the paint as it heats up. I used some in my toolbox drawers and the diamond pattern is embedded in the paint in the bottom of the drawers.
