thinking about lowering my 13 wide glide. first question anyone have experience with the la choppers rear lowering kit. second question is progressive drop in front fork lowering systems. any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
You can lower the front by just sliding the forks up higher in the trees. It's free, and that way, you don't lose any suspension travel.
If you lower the rear with one of those type lowering kits, the tire will have more upward travel, and you may find that it hits the underside of the fender over hard bumps. Shorter shocks with less travel are the way I went. Sometimes you can find inexpensive used takeoffs from another model, which are shorter. A 1/2" reduction in eye-to-eye length will lower the rear about 1".
I run the progressive drop in springs on my front so far they are nice no complaints about them. Not sure if they changed the for setup for your year but, my 05 I had to pull the forks off the bike to install them as the top tree holds the fork cap.
