Default FXDC tank lift, plastidip lowers pics

Beautiful day for riding here in Oklahoma. Recently finished up 2" DIY tank lift and Plastidip lowers. First ride since. Best mods yet besides the apes.

Looks good. If you don't mind, can you tell me how you did your lift?

I bought a piece of 1"x 3/16" x 3' steel stock, cut out two pieces 3" long, drilled two 5/16 holes 2" apart. Smoothed down the corners, rattle canned them black. Used the original tank bolt to bolt the new brackets to the original tank mounting position through the frame. Cut down a piece of all thread bolt to the correct length, JB welded a acorn nut on the left side, ran bolt through the tank mount tab and through the upper hole on my new bracket and out the other side and capped off with loctite and another acorn nut. Took about an hour to make the brackets and paint them and about 30 min to mount them after paint dried. Total cost was $14 bought everything at lowes. The crossover tube on bottom of tank will rub the bottom of frame so you can either bend down the bungs on the bottom of tank or install a longer hose.

My tank lift kit is almost like yours. I used chrome spacers filling the void instead of threaded rod n lock nuts. Looks very clean.

DK Customs has a tank lift that I used. It cost a little more than $14 but was plug n play. It comes with the nuts bolts and crossover hoses and clamps. It's powdercoated and very durable. Kevin makes a great product.

Inside the void I placed two black polyurethane spacers with chrome nuts tightened up against them. Still have a very small amount of all thread showing in the center. I'll come up with something to cover that. Will also snap a pic of it next time I'm out in the garage.

DK C does sell a very nice setup for a decent price but half the fun of doing these mods is making your own parts. I'm in the process of building a solo seat for my bike out of a factory Road King seat. I have zero knowledge/experience in upholstery but the seat was free and I enjoy the time in the garage.

Thanks bro! Yeah those reflectors are coming off when I redo the lowers. Wasn't sure if I really wanted the lowers black so I sprayed them without removing the wheel or fender. But now I love them black so I will be removing the wheel, fender and reflectors to respray them.
