Default '13 Wide Glide Upcoming Mods

Bought my Wide Glide the end of last October. I was filling a dream from my youth. Any how I can't stand the stealth like sound of the stock exhaust. So Friday I went to an exhaust shop in town and the guy who owns it said if I pull the head pipes and bring them in he will take a die grinder, and cut the cat open and gut it and then weld the cover back on.

I figure while he is doing that I will grind the rivets and pull the baffles out of the stock slip-ons and remove any wrapping and make them a straight shots back to the head pipes and rivet them back together.

Then add the following to the mix.

I figure that and replacing the breakin fluids and I should me sitting on a new bike. That should leave me just putting a set of 12 inch mini apes or 14s to complete the package.

It gets rid of the stock bars and puts something on there that is more to my style.

Well, that must mean "complete the package" part 1
I'm in basically the same situation.....bought a new '13 WG and it's at the dealer having 14" Wild1 Chubby Outlawz put on along with some Magnum Chromite cables. I stopped by to check out the progress on Friday afternoon and had a chance to talk with the tech working on it for quite awhile. Discussed various upgrades and mods and one of the questions I asked was, gutting the cat. He said, not a good idea...something to the effect of disrupting the exhaust flow. I was going back and forth between adding slipons or a full system, and am leaning more towards a full system now as my next upgrade. I think I will ride it stock though, until the 1k service and hopefully will have found an exhaust I like by then.

I don't see the difference in gutting the cat, or having a set of straight pipes with no baffles. I think I will give it a shot and use a fuel manager to balance it all out. I don't trust alot that thay say at the shop anyways. Most of the time even if something works fine they will try and talk you out of it because they will not make money off it. My bike hasn't made the 1000 miles yet either, but HD will not be servicing it when It is ready. No need in paying 350 for something I can do for a third of the price.
