Brake light stays on from the front lever-took it apart-the little plunger that activates the light is fully out-i can push it down fully with a screwdriver-can pry back the lever enough so the brake light WILL go off-but put back as normal-the plunger seems too far out and keeps the brake light on-is the plunger bad? What's the problem?

Probably just a bad switch. Not sure if you can push the rubber boot back and clean the plunger but personally I would just change it.

 

I had the same issue last summer, changing the switch is the way to go.
