Default Disconnect or ?

Fellas,

Got to leave my ride for about a week and a half, no feasible way of putting it on a tender. Looking for advice on whether or not I should disconnect the battery or do you think it will be fine? I do have an alarm, which is the reason I am wondering if the battery will be drained in that amount of time or not.

Thanks for the advice!

I had surgery a couple of months ago so wasn't riding. Started it up to go for a ride last Friday and it fired up as if I'd ridden the day before, not 7 weeks before. No tender, but no alarm system either.

I've left mine for 2 weeks before without starting it (wasn't planned, had no other way around it), I have the alarm.
When I went to fire my bike up it started right up with no issues at all.
1.5 weeks shouldn't be a big deal on the battery, but I wouldn't make a habit out of it.

I would make sure it has a good charge on it (ride it for an hour or so on the highway) right before putting it up. If you don't need the alarm to be armed, then disconnect the frame ground from the battery. If your battery is good and not too old, it should hold a charge for 10 days just fine. My battery is around 16 months old and I ride regularly and it has sat in the garage for as long as two weeks or more connected and without a tender on it and still cranked up just fine.

You ask me in warm weather not an issue. But if it's below say 40 F you may just have to charge it a bit or get a boost. You can boost from a car but leave the car motor off. Go and don't worry.

1.5 weeks is nothing to worry about. As a matter of fact 1.5 months is nothing to worry about.

I have 3 bikes and it's not unusual for one to sit 2-3 weeks. I don't have any problems and 2 of the bikes have alarms.

It takes at least 4-6 weeks before the batteries discharge significantly. It is more of an issue in cold weather.

You will be fine...the alarm drain is pretty insignificant.

Well fellas, got back a day early. Kept my fingers crossed that my bike was where I left it first of all, and it was

Fired right up, no hesitation at all. Still dont care to do it that way, would rather leave it on a tender, but at least now I know I can leave it for a couple weeks if I absolutely have to.
