Default 96 vs 103 Wide Gldie

Hey all! I am a first time poster here so I am not sure if this has been discussed before so I am sorry if it has.

My questions is for those that have ridden the 96 and 103 Wide Glide. I am looking at buying one or the other. The question comes up because I can get a good price on a 2011 WG which has the 96 or buying something 2012 or newer that comes with the 103. Is it worth the extra money to go for the 103? I would do a Stage 1 on either as well.

Thanks for the feedback!

Not a huge difference, and if you do your own work its not a big deal to turn a 96" into a 103" (or 106", or 107"...). All things equal I'd get the one with the 103" from the factory, but if you get a good deal on a 96" you like go for it.

You have to REALLY look ahead and see where you want your build to be at.....

If you will NEVER bore your cylinders then I would get 103, but if you're gonna go bigger there is no point spending the extra coin for something that you will tear apart and make bigger than a 103.

Like reindeer said a 96 & 103 can both be built to a max of 107 (w/o longer rods). If you are getting a smokin deal on 96" go for it.

pretty much. a 107 kit is $1300 bux or so ( w/ cams). so if the price difference is more than that then its probably not worth it (assuming identical condition bikes). the other difference in the 11 vs 12+ is canbus vs delphi which might affect your fuel processor choice.

personally im fine with the 96" on my fatbob (once i got off the stock map). for me suspension upgrades would be a better place to spend the money than a 103 or 107 upgrade. now if i happen to have the money sitting around after the suspension upgrades......
