My week end with Dyna brakes

My week end with Dyna brakes
My rear brake set is was a custom/rigged up mess. The previous owner did it to squeeze a 180 tire on a 150 bike.
I replaced the pads a few months ago and found out the caliper was off the front end of a 4 wheeler. About that time I noticed the rear brakes wouldn't stop the bike, just slow it down a little. The brake pads I took off were cocked so bad they were metal to metal on one end and like brand new on the other.
I kinda like having back brakes, so I ordered the same type set up I had from Performance Machine. Install was a breeze, I had to remove 1/8" off the spacer between the wheel bearing and brake bracket, and add a 1/8" spacer between it and the swingarm.
Got it all put back together, and took the brake line off my old caliper to put on my new one. The only fluid that came out was what was in the caliper. Pumped the brake pedal and nothing. Took the line off the master cylinder, and pumped the pedal and it just dripped out a little.
Took the master cylinder apart, and it was caked full of black nasty gunk. I sure would have hated to pushed that $hit into my new caliper. Rebuilt the master cylinder, and waiting for a USP delivery that I have to sign for so I can "drive" down to J&P....again to score a brake line.
I'm pretty sure my new brakes will stop just fine now.
