Default White Plugs.

Tonight I removed the Primary Cover to paint it and and change oil and check clutch adjustment. While I got everything done and waiting for paint to dry I decided to pull a plug out and check them. I changed them right after I got the bike. I have only put about 250 miles on these plugs and I was surprised to see they looked more on the white side than I would like. Bike only has 4900 miles on her. Only thing that's not stock is I have the V+H Short shots. Its obviously running lean, which I know they do even from the factory but now Im thinking I need to do something to richen this thing up. Wasn't quite ready to do a full stage 1 but maybe I should be thinking of a tuner? Ive done some research and I like the PCV. Bike seems to run fine.. Recommendations? Thanks

That plug looks fine. They don't turn tan anymore, no lead in the gas.

The ceramic should look a little grayish, that's about it as far as color (with no deposits). From the pic, that appears to be the case. As long as the electrode and base of the threads isn't white, you're not burning lean.

Well that's good news! I guess my old car knowledge doesn't always mix with the bike!
Thanks!

Yeah, they looks fine. If you wanted to richen it up a little until you do the stage 1 I would look for a set of xieds. They have them at nightrider.com or you could check the classifieds here or ebay.

Default ThunderMax Autotune

Yes you are more than likely running to lean...........
The PCV is okay and will probably do the job......
I am running the ThunderMax Autotune #309-382 for Dyna's/Softails/Sportsters.
This is one of their newer models and I can say it works flawlessly.........
Simple to install and even easier to re-map or auto-map (Great feature)
I couldn't be happier, it has been the best money I have spent......
The bike runs awesome since the install, what a difference it has made......
Call the guys over at Cyclesolutions, Josh or Chris they will give you the low down on the best tuner..........Don't do this get some sound advice from the guys that know............
Hope this helps a little............Good Luck..........and get that lean condition fixed.........
Live Free = Ride Free.........

Default Spark Plug Reading...........

There is no timing mark on the strap which should be right at the strap bend...
The insulator should be a light grayish to gray color, not pure white.....
The air/fuel ring should have a full ring of discoloring.....
Heat range should only show 1 to 2 threads with discoloring any more and you are starting to run to hot...........
You spent a lot of money for your bike, if you want it to run hard and long you need to take care of it......
My personal opinion is you need a tuner of some sort, that decision is yours...
Get some sound advice..........
No disrespect meant at all to the other posters..............
Have a great evening...........

Thanks for the input guys. I thought that was too white. Surprised because the bike only has exhaust. Kinda defumbles the myths of everyone saying "no tuner if your only adding exhaust". Not that I didn't want to get a tuner and a better intake anyway just didn't have the funds quite yet. Just got new 11" 412s and had to get a new phone cause mine fell out of my jacket pocket going down the highway on the bike.
Looked at the Thundermax tuner and it does look nice but pretty pricey for me. I might lean toward the PCV and intake deal from Fuelmoto...
