Default I dropped it today

Well it happened today, cruising home I had a lady cut me off and then stand on her brakes because the truck in front of her was stopping. I hit the brakes and went down. The police said she was a contributing factor and my insurance will have to go after her. Ok before we get to the pics as I'm sure you all want to see, how should I handle this? On one hand I do all my own work minus paint and think with the cosmetic stuff that's hurt I should go get an estimate and repair it all myself. On the other hand I don't know enough to know if this is the wrong route to take with the bike. I am about to be on convelesant leave from getting nerves cut out of my foot I messed up in Afghanistan so I'll have plenty of time to work on the bike myself and get it back on the road.

Not sure on what direction you should go, but it really blows that you went down. Good luck getting it all made right... Also, Thanks for your service!

Awww man! Glad you seem ok though. I know with cars they frequently just cut the check to the shop for repairs. Stop in at a shop and see what they have to say. They may be able to work with you especially you get parts through them.

That's a real bummer. Glad you didn't get hurt too bad or catch some major damage on the ride. Hey, it looks like you have a start already on a concave sided tank! Best of luck!

Do what I didnt do when I went down; take it to a Harley dealer and let them safety inspect it and put an estimate together. Once you have it in hand, easier for your insurance to fight for your behalf to get an obviously brand new bike back to that condition.

Sorry about your scoot, but glad you're ok. I say take it to Harley shop and let them give you an estimate.
