Default HD solo springer seat question

Just installed the springer seat tonight. Like the looks and feel of the actual seat but the springs are really stiff. When I sit on it or push on it they don't move one bit. Wanted to know if they will break in and soften up in time.

Do they move at all when you are riding?

Had the same seat on mine, I gave up after about six months a threw a bare bones on it. It's like sitting on a pillow of feathers in comparison haha

Maybe the beehive springs will ride softer than the hairpin style.
Do the springs come in different wire gauge depending on rider weight?
Don't forget springer seats were made for hardtails, that seat might be comfy if your rear was rigid.

Just a thought, but is your front bolt tightened up? Or does the seat swivel when not attached to the springs?

The bolt that came with my kit didn't fit.. was way too short so I grabbed another from the local auto store, tightened up fast. The seat doesn't move and I think the harshness of the ride was only exaggerated by the slammer kit. Needless to say that hit the bricks too and went back to stock for the time being.

Shouldn't the front bolt be loose so the seat will move freeely on the hinge?

I had the same situation you have. The spring was tightened so much that the springs basically had a high "pre-load" before you ever sat on the seat - causing it to feel very stiff. What I did was purchased two 1.25" flat head screws and two .25" rubber washers from Lowes. This setup gives a slight up/down cushion from the rubber AND the longer bolts remove the "pre-load" of the springs allowing some give when you sit down.

Here is where I purchased the bolts:

Here is the pic of the new setup:
