Default lowrider: thundercone slipon or full system?

hey guys just wondering what your thoughts are on this. should i keep the stock head pipes and get the thundercone slipon with a big sucker and PCV? or get the full thunderheader system with big sucker and either a tts mastertune or PCV? does anyone know what the HP difference would be between the two setups? im pretty sure if i went the slipon route the catalytic converter would still be on! how bad does that stifle the hp output?
Also the slipon route is by far the more economical route to take! opinions? anyone use the thundercone slipon yet? does it sound as good as the thunderheader? thanks

As you indicated, the CAT is the issue with slip ons. You'll get a bit more sound, but the restriction will still limit the advantages of the exhaust upgrade.

In my experience, you'll end up buying the full system later anyway.

You could have the CAT removed though. It would be cheaper than a full system.

I thought the cat was in the mufflers on the dyna models. Has this changed now?

The cat is in the muffler of the Street Bob and Superglide, but in the collector of the Fat Bob, Wide Glide, and new Low Rider. I'm not sure about the Switchback.

Basically, if the rear head pipe wraps around the front of the cam chest and meets a collector, the cat is in the collector.

It could be. Maybe they changed up for this new model. Another LR guy on the forum added a slip-on and said the cat was in the collector. I know the WG and FB have it in the collector, but just looking at pictures, your collector does look different.

I'm almost positive the new lowrider has the same exhaust as the switchback.. so if you could find out where the cat is on the switchback I'd bet its in the same place on the lowrider

I went and looked at a new LR and the cat was in the head pipe. If you buy a slip on your going to be very disappointed with the sound if you keep the cat. Bite the bullet, spend a little more and get a full system
