Hello everyone. I am sorry if this has been posted already, although I couldn't find the info. I want to install detachable saddle bag brackets for ammo cans on my 1995 fxd and it looks like all bracket manufacturers only go down to 1996. I think there was a convertible model in 95, so I feel that they could work.

Here are my Q's:
1: Will a quick detach bracket be able to be supported by the frame on a pre-96 FXD (weight and moment about frame and all)?

2: Some throw-over bag, non-detachable brackets state that they work down to 95 or even 91. Can I assume the frame has the same bracket spacing on a 1995 as it does on a 1996 and newer? Same frame size/depth at the fender supports?

3. I was thinking EZ brackets, although I'm also looking at the Edge Brackets. Both only state compatibility with 96 and newer, although I've been in contact with EZ Brackets and they stated that the frame should be the same from 95 to 96 and that the bracket spacing is 9 5/16" center to center for the EZ Bracket.

Please note the pics. It looks like it's around 10" from the forward support mount to the center of the turn signal 'pole.' I don't know where the turn signal is mounted under the fender support cover to get exact distances. One pic is close up with the tape to the fender. The other pic (still a 10" dimension, but looks deceiving because of the angle) is a 'big picture' um, uh, picture.

I will see if I can get pics of my 98 FXDS tomorrow, you may be able to fab brackets for the ammo cans using the convertible stuff. also the signals on the convertible come from the tail light housing to clear the bags.
