Default New member....almost a wide glide owner

Hello yall. New guy here and glad to be here. I been out of the motorcycle hobby a few years and ready to get back in the saddle again. I bought a brand new 100th anniversary sportster on my 19th birthday and have been hooked on Harleys ever since. After getting married a few years ago and having a kid....and 3 back surgeries...I had to let the sporty go. Now at age 30 I'm having a early midlife crisis and want my Harley back.

So anyway... I found a 2002 dyna wide glide with 16,000 miles for sake locally. Black in color and has a hyper charger. Has a few love marks ( scratches) here and there. It's 12 years old so I expect that. So I settled on paying him 6000 for it. Seems like just about any used harley that's not a sportster is 10 grand regardless of the year. I think I done ok? Everything looks in top working order accept owner removed front signal lights for some reason. My back is really bad so comfort is a must. I felt like a hand in a glove on the wide glide. Laid back and smooth. Sat on a superglide earlier and felt cramped like a oversized sportster. Wide glide was a totally different beast. I like the carbed engine too because I can work on it. These fuel injection things are over my head...I like simplicity.

I have an '05 Wide Glide (my first bike), and I absolutely love it. Like you stated, it's very comfy and I love the forward controls (actually put a set of the 3" extended controls on and it's even better now). I'll probably upgrade my LePera 2-up for a Mustang with detachable backrest in the future but for now it's still very comfortable and I love the looks! Congrats again and post some pics when you can!

Welcome back to the saddle from Oregon. Get those bars, seat and feet where you want them and the ride is always better, especially with good shocks. Enjoy!
