Default Mid pegs on a forward control WG?

I've got an 02 WG and would like to rig up some mid pegs for an optional place to move my legs on longer trips.

I don't think the 02 WG frame was the same as a regular Dyna, plus it looks like my V&H pipes would be in the way of anything I could think up.

I want to dump my forward controls altogether and swap them out for mid controls....I have never liked forward controls.

I'm just gonna run the mids with a set of highway pegs for another place to rest my feet.
Looking at the photo...You might be able to run mids with those pipes, I have V&H Longshots on mine but I'm gonna dump them to and put a Bassani R/R on when I change the controls.

Anyone got mids that wants to trade for forwards? I'm willing to do all the labor for the swap, including the inner primary.

After further investigations I found a rectangular square block welded to the frame with 2 plastic plugs on both sides of the frame. I never popped one of the plugs out, but I'm betting there will be threaded holes under there.

Gonna head to a couple indy shops to see if they might have some used brackets I can use.

FYI: When you pop those plastic caps off it would be a good idea to have a tap handy to chase the treads. When I removed mine for highway pegs they were pretty corroded. Loctite is your friend

Nice bike Kevin. I'm hoping to pick up a black 02 wide glide myself today. Nice idea on adding mid mount pegs for change of position. I used to switch back and forth on my sportster from fronts to mids but then again it wasn't as comfortable as the WG so maybe I won't have to on it

Man, where was this offer 3 months ago?! It would've saved me $1200.

I have a Fat Bob that I switched from mid to froward controls. Before I made the swap I was running a V&H bigshot pipe with the mids and had no problems. I ended up putting the DK Customs flying knuckle pegs on as mids. They are almost like mini running boards because they are flat and kind of wide.

The FXDL/Lowrider & FXDWG of the same time period use the same frame P/Ns. FXD's have a different frame & 28° neck rake & are a different P/N. Just get some take-off mid-pegs from any FXD or FXDL. The mid peg mounts will fit right up to your WG frame in the two holes with the plastic caps that you've seen.

Left foot rest bracket= P/N 50639-90
Right foot rest bracket= P/N50649-90

BTW check Ebay.
