Default Issues with carb 2001 fxdxt

Having issues with my carb on my 2001 fxdxt stock 88 twin cam
Bassani road rage 2
Stock air filter.
Stock jets

All I changed was the pipes and it's getting a lot of air and now when I idle it's idling very high like the choke is pulled out

Has died twice at taking off from a light.

Wondering if I should re jet it or what could the issue be. The throttle has been very sticky as well.

There should be a idle adjustment screw on the carb. If the throttle has been sticking adjust the slack in the cable.

Sticky throttle: id check and see if your throttle is pressed up tight against the handlebar. may need some more clearance to allow the throttle to retract.

Stock air filter: id change to a big air intake, this will allow your bike to breathe again

Stock jets: id change these out asap then dyno

It may be running leaner at idle with the newer pipes. Leaning out the idle will make it idle at higher RPM. This could also explain it hesitating or dying when you pull away. I'm not familiar with the carb but if it has an adjustment for idle mixture, try making it richer. Someone familiar with the carb should be able to steer you better than I can.

Stock low speed jet should be a 45. First try screwing out the idle mixture screw 1/2 turn. That should help. When you change out the exhaust, you gotta fatten up the mixture because now it's breathing better. Keep opening it up till you get to 3 turns out. At that point, swap out the 45 jet with a 46 since you can't get enough fuel through the 45. With the 46 jet, a good starting point is 1 1/2 turns out.

Rejet it, the idle is hanging high because its too lean.

48/190 or 195 main. Shim the needle with a washer as ell.
