Default Tach wiring help

So I bought this tach from a member, PN# 67042-95, and its a 3 wire Orange, Black and Pink.

Orange=Power
Black=Ground
Pink=Signal

I have a 2011 StreetBob and I tried tapping into the Lt Green/Violet wire for signal but all I get is crazy needle bounce.

Am I SOL on this tachometer working? Or can I grab the signal a different way?

Thanks guys, I grabbed the tach signal from the Serial Data wire at the harness (LtGrn/Vlt) in the diagram. The needle just swings around erratically.

you need the diagram after the main harness connecter to see where it goes, the serial data line is a communication line. it just lets each of the modules "talk"to each other in easy terms

Not sure what tach you have but the stock harness from a low allowed me to install a low rider dash with tac. Plug and play.

The serial data wire won't work on a tach that old, that's what I tapped into but my tach is a newer sporty tach. You may be able to tap into a different wire to get the signal needed for that tach. I think pin 3 at the ECM???

Edit:

Got it working. The pin pushed out a little from the ECM plug. Had to push it a little further through and make sure it clipped into place. All working now.

Thanks for all the advice.

Just to be clear, was it pin 3 on the ecm? I gotta help a friend hook up a tach on his 2010 street bob, and we are a little stumped.
