Talking New street bob: When is it a good time to mod?

Hello,
I just picked up a 2014 street bob and I have ball park around 600 miles on it. The dealership said they wanted me to put about 500 miles on it to just "break it in". Now that I've done that I have order my V&H slip ons and FP3. Was wondering, should I wait after my 1,000 mile service to put them on? or am I good to go? I know the dealership had no issues offering me pipes and tune when I was picking out my options for the bike but all that would been covered under the 2 year warranty. Should I just wait? its only 400 miles but the parts are calling my name.

I put my exhaust on at 30 miles on odometer. Dont wait. The dealer cannot deny your warranty over some exhaust unless it directly caused the problem you are seeking warranty work for. (Just remove all parts before taking it in)

Day1 is a good day to start modding.

I have an '13 Street Bob and just this week did the exact same mods you are going to do although I just had the dealer 1,000 mile service about a month ago. I do also remember when I bought it the same spiel about adding this all on at purchase. . . BTW, the new FP3 is a breeze to install and made a extremely noticeable difference! I will be adding the HD Stage 1 AC this week! Have fun and from one new member to another, welcome!

I did my exhaust right away also. I rode home from the dealer, let the bike cool down, then started tearing into it. I think I had 36 miles on it.

Same here...I had the V&H Pro pipe delivered with 2 days and already had an A/C laying around. I did have to wait an extra day for V&H to send me a map for the FP3.

I started modding right away. I bought my 2014 FXDB about 3 months ago and the day I brought it home, I had new bars, exhaust, intake, EFI tuner all on within a week, before the 1000 mile service. You're good.

Good time to mod?? The minute you get it home in the garage! Dealers are very used to seeing modded bikes come first service time.

You can start modding as soon as you buy a bike if you want. Theres people that buy a bike and with 0 miles on it they have intake, exhaust, tuner and internal engine work done before it leaves the dealership. Then theres people that special order a bike and have all that before the bike ever gets to the dealership.
