Default Opinions needed on decel popping on new FXDC

Got a 2014 FXDC. Ran great with stock mufflers but of course they had to go. Put on the rush slip ons 1.75 that I had on my previous 2 bikes. They both were 96cu. in. and ran great without any download or remapping. Now with the 103 cu.in. it pops [mini backfire on decel and sometimes between gears]. Talked to service at dealership. Been dealing with them for about 7 yrs. and they're straight up guys. They said they haven't seen that problem on any 2014's yet and they sell a lot of bikes. Anyway they gave me 2 options. Option 1. Stage 1 with hiflo aircleaner and download. The cost $350 [that includes the $150 for stage 1 aircleaner]. Theoretically they said it should take care of it but didn't guarantee it. Option 2. Install super tuner, dyno tune, stage 1 and download. The cost $950 total with parts. They guaranteed that would work and could tune other exhausts if needed in the future. I don't see myself putting on a different exhaust any time soon. Don't know which way to go. It's a $600 difference. What's your opinion. Thanks.

I had the same problem on my 2013 Fatbob............
Took off stock muff's and installed Freedom Muff's and got decel popping....
I added the Nightrider FL-Xied's and still did not get rid of popping......
I now have Rineheart 2 into 1 exhaust and running the ThunderMax Autotune and have no popping at all..............
So with that being said, I do not think you will be able to get rid of the popping unless you change some thing's out..............
Probably not what you wanted to hear, but that's how my decel popping disappeared ................
I am running ThunderMax Auto tuner with SE Stage 1 Air intake and Rineheart 2 into 1 exhaust and I have no decel popping what so ever...........
Have a great day..............

Big city monster thunder baffles are suppose to help with decel popping. Also gives a lower tone. Around $200. Try rolling your throttle closed, instead of letting the spring close it.

SEPST is what I did along with the dyno. That should do it.

The can download is crap (in my opinion) - if you already did the exhaust, then do the air intake and think about a Power Vision - the PV will allow you to tune it anyway you want no mater what your future upgrades are. And the guys at Fuel Moto are nothing short of great.

2011 FXDC. Went with dealer download, slipons, and SE air box. Bikes runs great, no popping, or decel problems. After two tuner/dyno fiascos, I'm just not a ''tuner'' fan for a simple stage one. Just not necessary, IMHO.

How would you go about solving the problem on a carb'ed bike? Having the same symptoms on my 03 FXD.

I knew the "download is crap" comments would come, but it works great for me and dozens of other people I know. It's your money. Different strokes ............

Decel popping is a normal occurrence. With stock/restrictive exhaust, you dont get a lot of it. On more free flowing exhaust, you notice it more. Nothing to worry about, and just a way for the stealerships to sell you more crap, because people think OMG...something's wrong!
