So I rode my new bike home after purchasing it from a dealer this past weekend and believe I ran out of gas on the hwy lol. I was going off of the fuel gauge which was reading at the time 1/4 tank left. I was just about to get gas when it happened but was surprised it happen, honestly thought it was something else. Pushed it 1/2 mile off and it actually started up again enough to roll into a gas station. Dealer said that fuel gauges on the older bikes are very inaccurate. Still a little strange because I only put in about 3.5 gallons and I thought the tank was 4.9 if I am not mistaken so I should of still had some in there.

So thoughts on is it a fuel gauge issue, sensor issue, or maybe something else? I would go by trip odometer because I am used to that coming from a GSXR however previous owner had removed gauges, just ordered OEM from a seller on eBay. I am just seeing if anyone has some food for thought about this.

 

does it have a tank lift? if so might be all the usable gas you can get is 3.5 or so.

 

Honestly I am not sure if it has a tank lift but that would make sense.
