Default Need rpm range for tc88 5 speed WG

Tried a search and only come up with 6 speed stuff.

Took a good ride today. Otw home was 130 miles of interstate 65 from south Tennessee to the Kentucky border. I done the 70mph speed limit most the time and sometimes 65. I wouldn't mind going a little faster but I have no tach to see what rpm I'm turning. I feel like I'm screaming at 70. Probably just the loud pipes making it seem worse. What rpm would my 02 wG be doing at 70mpg in 5th? I'd be tempted to run 80 in certian places but don't want to throw any rods out the block lol. Give me a safe rpm range known for these dyna setups with 88 and 5 speed and show me what is safe and what is not. I just feel like I'm running the **** out of my bike at 70mph

you can run 80 all day long with that bike. You're right in the middle of the power band there. @ 70-80 you're at around 3000-3500RPM

Trust me, the 88 Twinkie will run 80+ Mph for hours on end.
Mine is proof.

Cool thanks. It's smooth at 70 mph but the exhaust is screaming. Put 180 miles on the last tank running 70 and still haven't hit reserve yet. 46mpg on last tank so not bad for a old carbed 5 speed.

Cruising at 70...whether you have loud pipes or not...you would barely hear them, until you get on the throttle. You normally hear more wind noise than anything else. If you are running a windshield or fairing...you may hear more engine noise...but still... Maybe a full face helmet? Sound can resonate in those.

I got a 99 WG with the TC88 and yeah, it's loud at 70mph but it's good to go. I hwy ride for hours and it's solid.

I would definately not be worried about throwing a rod man. But if you are, sell the bike.

My 03 lowrider will be at 3000 rpm at 70. But I have run all day on long trips 70 80 and 85 plus with no issues the 88ci can do that all day. You bike will be fine
