Default Question on vance & hines pipes. 2014 low rider....(((to loud)))

A buddy of mine had a Harley shop install some vance & hines pipes on his bike. he specifically told the shop he wanted louder but not too loud. they suggested these pipes...

well these pipes are defiently louder. too loud.!! not at all what he wanted.

anyway to add baffle to lower the loudness or are the pipes just the wrong pipes.

Those are V&H Big Radius 2-into-2s. Nice pipes but, unlike many of their pipes, V&H don't make "Quiet Baffles" for them, it seems.

However, there seem to be a number of other quiet baffles available for them. Smartpartz seem to be recommended a lot, as do Big City Thunder (generally seen as not so quiet though). I've no idea what effect these have on performance etc...

If you throw "quiet baffles vance hines big radius 2-into-2" or similar into google, a bunch of discussions about baffles and DIY solutions on HD forums comes up...

Alternatively, see if your mate can return them or swap them for another style which can be fitted with quiet baffles. Also, keep in mind that "quiet" is not "muffler quiet", just "baffle quiet", if you know what I mean...

Nice looking bikes BTW, yours and your mate's.

If they were short shots than there is baffles. 21301 - Quiet Baffle ($39.95 each) But not Big Radius. See Davdoodles post

Now my Son in law has those pipes on his Nightster. They are a bit loud but sweet sounding.

The pitch is higher sounding if that makes sence. Compared to my 2001 LR which to me has that old school lower pitch sound.

I went with the V&H Big Radius 2-1 on my new Lowrider. It is no where near as loud as the 2-2 pipes.

Default Don't Rush into anything.

Just another example of not doing one's homework. The 2 into 1 that he discarded actually improves performance. Could have saved money and put on a slip on and accomplished his goal. Sound and loudness of exhaust systems is very subjective. Everybody has their own opinion. I LOVE the sound of the Vance & Hines Pro Pipe on a Dyna. My good friend says it makes it sound like crap.

He should have been able to look at those things and know they would be loud.

I have those pipes (Big Radius 2 into 2) on a 2013 WideGlide (103 motor)

I don't think they are loud at all. Also, these pipes make a weird "sniffling sound" when you let of the throttle. I have not heard this on other pipes.

I was next to a Sportster 1200 with V&H (with baffles) and that's a very different sound and much louder than my 103

Anybody know what I mean with this sort of "sniffling sound" when you let off the thottle with these pipes... Wierd sound. I think my bikes got a cold.
