Default Saddle Bag Question

I have a Dyna with detachable side plates for the backrest... anyone know if you can mount saddlebags as well? I have heard you have to have the permanent backrest plated and have brackets for the bags, but you can't have both? I don't want to go the throw over route...

I am in the same boat as you as I'm not to sure on what options are available for the detachable side plates. Hopefully someone will chime in and give us some options that would work. Sorry I couldn't help

From what I've seen, about of folks replace the bolts on the detachable backrest hardware with longer ones so they can attach bags to them. You have to use rigid back bags so they don't sag into the wheelwell

Don't have a good picture of it on my computer now, but I've got both a HD detachable backrest and HD detachable saddlebags, just use longer bolts. My bike was set up like this when I got it. I'm assuming its the same setup as darkhdshadow posted, looks pretty similar to that.

I've got Boss bags and detachable sideplates for my sissybar. Love how close the bags fit. I've seen a lot that stick out too far.

Darkshadow, I don`t know if you did this on purpose but the tapered end of the front docking point should be against the strut.
