Shock length question on a 1993 Dyna or 1986 FXR
Hey all,
I'm new here, and I'm looking for some info/advice. I currently own a 1998 1200 Sportster, but I'm in the market for a used FXR or Dyna. I have a couple of bikes I want to look at tomorrow(1993 Dyna, and a 1986 FXRS Sport). I am 5'2" with approx. 26" inseam wearing riding boots. My question is...what is the minimum length of shocks I can use on the back of a 1993 Dyna, before I run into the tire bottoming out on the fender (or anything else for that matter). I have a pair of 11" Koni progressive rate shocks I took off of my Sportster because of bottoming issues. I would like to be able to use these shocks on whatever I buy if possible. While we are at it, does anyone know how short I would be able to go on the back of an FXR, both early and late model. I intend to shave the seat width in the front and possibly thickness if necessary also. Ultimately I would like to put air shocks with on board compressor, but that is an expense I can't swing in addition to the bike at the moment. Any other suggestions for a comfortable fit would be appreciated also.
