Default Could use some help on this leak!

Hi, new to the forum. Did some searching but idk really what to search for. I have a 01 dyna wide glide with 3,000 miles and noticed a leak. I bought the bike about a month ago and this is the first summer it's being ridden regularly. The guy I bought it from hasn't rode it in about 6 years. The leak is coming from whatever that yellowish thing is, not sure if it's an o-ring that popped out or if someone tried to seal it up with something, it's directly in the middle underneath the bike. The left side of the picture would be the front of bike and right would be the back and so on...

First you have to determine where the fluid originates from, ie engine oil, primary fluid or transmission fluid. I use Spectro trans fluid and it's red so I can differentiate fluids in the event of a leak. Red obviously will be a transmission leak, Dark oil is usually the engine and cleaner oil is primary (because it's not subjected to the combustion process).

All that said, if your luck good, it's an inner primary seal leaking primary fluid AND the inner primary bearing race didn't walk outward on the shaft to cause it. If your luck is bad, it's the seal on the transmission output shaft behind the pulley. A little more work and you need a couple of special tools to make the job easier.

First, find out what's leaking. Auto parts stores have dye you can put in (one source at a time) to help you.

The picture is a bit of a challenge to understand because of the poor focus.
You may wish to consider going to this website, look at oem parts, enter bike information and then go to the general area of the problem part/area.
This will help to better isolate and describe the situation.
