Default Broken!

Me, not the bike. Bike is fine. Breathe.

So, while out on a fun little work expedition that we sailors like to call underway, I have managed to break a couple of fingers on my left hand as well as the thumb. Fun part: I'm left handed. Ugh. Anyway, the odds of me being able to get on the scoot when I get home are pretty slim so I'm looking at this as an opportunity to make some mid-summer mods. Some parts are already on the way ...
-Mini-Ape's from Milwaukee Twins
-Taillight from Custom Dynamics (including license plate frame, recently put on a lay low bracket)
-Coil and Horn relocation from DK Customs

Still, I am not satisfied. Problem is, I want to do more ... Don't we all? Except, I'm not sure what I want to do. That's where I hope you guys can help me out. I need ideas! My budget caps me at about $150 for parts and I lack the facilities to really mess with the engine or do any sort of serious tear down (building my work shed still). Anyway, ideas? Thoughts? All appreciated.

Sorry. Take a look at the under $50 thread, but I'd relocate the turn signals.

Since your getting apes your could do a front turn signal relocation which is pretty cheap.

You being a lefty, I am wondering how you can work on your ride with a busted up left hand? I can barely do it with both hands functional...LOL

I'm an MM, been turning wrenches in awkward positions with both hands for years. Plus, working with a bunch of other motor heads makes it easy to get help. Have beer, have tools, need help. Done.

Ex-GM here. Goodluck with the hand. Underways are bad enough without being busted up. One thing I miss about my MM and HT friends, always good help around when you needed to work on a car or bike.

Hehe, snipes...gotta love 'em

I did two tours as an AE (Aviation Everything) on H-3s and F-14s and spent another 20 years after that on general aviation planes...I know about sanding on my head turning wrenches in tight places...

Well, the parts have all arrived. Serious work shall begin Sunday.
Mini-Apes
Turn Signal relocation
Chrome Switches
Super Brace
LED Lay Down taillight
LED plate frame
Coil and Horn relocation

A lot of electrical shenanigans for a mechanic, but you've got to learn sometime right? My guess is it'll be a two day project just due to the lack of a thumb. May drill the handlebars to hide some wires, who knows.

Sit down and study the wiring diagrams and compare them to the wiring on your bike, take your time, do one thing at a time, take notes, and check each electrical modification as you go before putting it all together...

Oh, and get a multimeter if you don't already have one...

Piece of cake.
