Default Question on value

Well actually a couple.

1. Is a 100th anniversary harley valued any higher than the same bike of the next year? Example- is my 03 low rider worth more at 11 years old than an 02 was when it was 11 years old?

2. With my bike being a 100th anniversary, if I want to change the color should I just reap it or buy different parts to paint? Do the originals make the bike more valuable?

there are far too many 03's for them to have any extra value currently. maybe in 20 years when most of them have been scrapped. at which point the original paint job (in good condition) would add some value.

No added value now....Maybe in the far distant future.

There were a zillion of these paint jobs in '03 and like any other "anniversary" paint scheme, they do nothing for the value of the bike.

They were kind'a ugly paint schemes anyway.

Like others have said..

I actually avoided shopping 03s when looking for my next bike far to many. The paint to me just dates the bike. Going down the hwy at seventy the opposite way. " That was a 03. "

Take it to Harley and see what they will offer on a trade in. That will get you the value, But you will find that the only time a anniversary addition is worth more happens to be when buying the bike brand new. Ive never bought into the whole "its a special addition" the MoCo uses to milk a few more bucks from us loyal customers. As far as paint, make it yours and don't worry about the extra 100 bucks you might get later on. enjoy the bike, enjoy the ride.

Kinda what I was thinking. I had to ask because it was the exact opposite with my 03 cobra. I have no intention of keeping the bike long enough for it to matter.

for what it's worth the 03 paint scheme was alot nicer than the '08 copper-top duracell HD! But as mentioned the only time one pays more for those is the first guy who buys it (SUCKER!!!) !) And like a couple others said in about 20 years if anyone has one that is really immaculate and I mean not a single smudge scratch scuff or scrape or sun fade or old oil stain or stuck on bug body.....maybe!?

Good thing your dumping that puppy!

My buddy pulled all his 100th painted tins off his bike and boxed them up when he got it new and replaced with all new custom tin. He said he wants them for resale if he still has the bike when its 20-25 years or more old. He hopes the mint parts will increase value.

It depends on the Anniversary model. Some Anniversary models come equipped differntly than the standard models. If the Anniversary model is a limited edition it may hold more value than a standard model which was overproduced. Each Anniversary edition is different.

Here is NADA for my 2006 FXDi35 35th Anniversary Superglide:

Base Price New Low Retail Average Retail
$16,795 $7,685 $10,110

Here is NADA for the same 2006 FXDi Superglide:

$12,480 $5,920 $7,790

Here is NADA for the final year of the FXD Superglide (2007):

$12,720 $6,090 $8,015

In 2008 HD discontinued the FXD, but stayed with the FXDC (Superglide Custom).

Here are the NADA values for the following years:

2009 = $13,854 $7,240 $9,525
2010 = $14,064 $8,280 $10,895

As you can see, my FXDi35 is valued about the same as a 2009 FXDC. This is probably due to the limited number (3500) of FXDi35 that HD produced. Also, the throwback paint scheme along with the 1st year of the 6 speed tranny. The 35th Anniversary also was chromed out compared to the FXDC.
