Default FLD saddlebag mounting hardware on FLH bags

Got to thinking and was wondering if anybody would know if it's possible to use the FLD saddlebag mounts on FLH bags. I know a little work on the bags would need to be done (i.e. the shock indentations would need filled in). All the hardware through kutter harley comes out to around $350-$400 total for both sides.

Again it's just a thought and a possible solution for detachable bags. Cheers guys!

If I get this, your wanting to put some touring bags on using the mounting system from a Switchback, correct?

you would need an extended rear fender as the switchback has a 3rd mount
at bottom of rear fender

If thats the case, it would seem that you would have to do a little more modification work to your bags. You would have to remove (all of it is what I would do) the stock shock pockets on the touring bags which I do believe you have already modified by adding a shock pocket for the dyna shock. If it was me, I would just pick up some bags made for the softails, sometihing like what sumax has where the shock pocket for the touring shock has already been removed in the design process, then it would be just a matter of doing another shock pocket for the dyna shock. All that extra need work required for your current bags would just take away from the strength and rigidity of the bags. Just my 2 cents.

Also, the softail bag would allow for the addition of the inner and outer support brackets used on the Switchback bags. Adding those and verifing the mounting system onto your bike using the brackets would allow the bag to mount smoothly and be quickly removable. Adding the bottom support using the same system as the switchback would also ad to the rigidity of the install.

Man, I wish I had thought of going this direction.....

I haven't touched my bags. The cost of the sumax bags is a little more than I would like to pay. Would almost be worth the time to modify mine which I have no problem doing. I have a bunch if fiberglass sitting around to work with
