Default leaking timing cover

So I changed our my cam cover but used the old timing cover. And somehow I'm leaking oil from the bottom of the timing cover. Idk how that's possible considering that no gasket was required to timing cover. Please advise.

I have pictures. Do not know how to post them here tho

Remove the TC and clean it. there should not be oil in there.

Now I don't know if they were making them differently in '03 but when I remove my TC it is sealed froom the inside, there is not a spec of oil in there.

I am thinking that your actually talking about your derby cover and not your timing cover. As maddghost said above the timing cover is sealed off behind and no fluids would be visible. Odds are that you need a new gasket for the cover.

I wish I was talking about my derby cover. It would be an easy fix. But I'm baffled at what can cause a leaking timing cover.

I figured it out. Went to my local chopper shop. Hyvon in whittier. They were able to inform me that all cam covers are not equal. I have an 03. And put an earlier model cam cover on as a replacement for appearances. However the cover I installed has a window for wires that come thru for timing on earlier models. That window is causing the leak seeing as how my model doesn't require that window inside the cam cover for the said wires.
