Your owner's handbook lists all the items that are "supposed" to be done by the dealer at the different service intervals.
The factory manual is what you should get, but the 5k is pretty simple and if you run into a snag or have any questions just post it up.

hmm they do have the Dyna 2013 manual. Anyone have any thoughts as to the differences between this and 2014? Were there any big changes, wiring, etc. other than the move from 96 to 103ci on the Street Bob?

Advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Curious, if you use synthetic in all 3 holes do you still change the oil just like using Dino? My understanding is you could go longer on the synth.

My local dealership gets $210 for the 5k mi service with syn3 which is expensive if they only do an oil change but reasonable if they do all the work listed in the manual. I can easily do it myself but the bike is only 3 months old and I am concerned about preserving the warranty. Yes I know, legally they can't void the warranty because you did your own work but the manufacturer can put up one hell of a fight to walk away from it and it is a long shot to expect help from the dealership in a warranty dispute when they can't verify that the maintenance was done in the first place. I expect to put 15-16k mi on the bike during the 2year warranty and own the bike for many more years after that. I will do all my own work after 2 years and my expectation is that any manufacturing defect will most likely show up in that time frame. I have been in some nasty warranty fights in the past (cars not motorcycles) so I am leery of setting myself up for another battle.

Just the same, I would not go longer than 4-5k on ANY oil. I use syn in all holes just the same.

The OP was asking a legitimate question about servicing his bike.

You are hijacking a thread with an oil question that has been seen 9 million times. Start your own thread in the oil section, or just go there and read a little.
