Bought mine brand new from the dealer with the Stage One option fitted. The bike had 8 miles on the clock

I was told to do it intake, exhaust and tune all the same time because those parts without a tune would burn the valves. I was planning to get the exhaust from the dealer and tune later on. When they told me this I said screw it then I'll buy it all somewhere else. Scare tactic or true?

I was told not to do the intake on its own - the bike is running a bit lean from the factory and high flow air filter would make it even leaner.

Purchased my FLHX in Sep 09, ordered all the parts within 1st week of ownership and wrenched them on by early Oct to get some good fall riding in before that upcoming winter. I'd say bike had ~400-miles on when I did the work.

BLUF...there's no "magical break-in timeline" so add/remove/upgrade, etc. as you see fit.

Ok guys so most say stage 1 ASAP or as you see fit. No harm no foul! But what about a dyno tune? Runs on the dyno to tune your pipes and air cleaner setup, not just maps! I've heard the dyno can be rough on a motor should it have a certain amount of miles before hitting the dyno?
I'm glad this thread has helped others as well

as stated in my reply earlier in this thread . . . we did a 'soft' dyno . . . a month or so later we did the full dyno. No sense in getting high rpms on a bike for long period of time for dyno on a bike with 2 miles on it (in my case after install)
