Question Parts from a Softail fit Dyna?

Does anyone have a site or know which years parts (engine parts to be specific) fit from softails to dyna?

I have an opportunity to get some parts from. 2000 softail and im wondering if they will fit my 07 dyna. Specifically looking at the rocker covers, cam cover, transmission cover and primary cover.

The biggest compatibility issue is if the dyna is a 96inc motor

I'm not sure what you mean? Yes, the 07 is the 96" but why does that matter?

I was worried about the primary not fitting because of where the shifter goes into the transmission...or is that the same on softails and dyna's?

Not 100%, but I would think the rocker and cam covers would be the same (assuming the '00 softail was a Twin Cam) but I think the tranny cover (5 speed to 6 speed) and primary covers are different.

You'll probably have to shop for the parts for each bike and see if the part #'s are the same.

For the covers, the rocker boxes are the same for either so that will work as well as ones from a Touring bike. You can use top and bottom pieces or just the tops if you are not tearing into the rockers. These are the only pieces you can use from the 2000 except for the heads and cylinders, rockers, etc.

The cam cover is different from 2001 and up so that will not work for you. Look for a cam cover from 2001 and newer of any model, Softy, Dyna or touring. Doesn't matter what CIs the motor is.

The 2000 tranny Top or Side covers won't work either. Need ones from a six speed Dyna or Softy...Touring is different for this.

The Primary cover from the 200 will not work. Only the Primary covers from the six speed Dyna and Softy will work...Touring is different for this also.

A note about the CIs...the cylinders and heads from either are interchangeable with the 2006+ heads being better...but pistons from a 96ci are made differently so will not go into an 88ci bottom end...the 96 is basically a stroked 88...same diameter piston on different size crank with different mounting location, but that is more than you were asking. lol!

Rocker covers should be interchangeable from TC 88 - 103
