Is there any way I can pick out if my 12 dyna is a California emissions compliant bike by looking a the vin? Thanks in advance.

 

I don't know by VIN, but if you're able to see the bike look for the charcoal breather attached the frame just behind the front tire. That is the dead giveaway that the bike was made for california emissions requirements.

 

The label on the front down tube of the frame says if it's Calif. or Federal emissions.

 

I peeled the label off to clean up the look of the bike prior to even having any idea that such an emission law existed! Any pics of that breather close up???

yeah the object in questoin is the giant round canister. It contains charcoal fitler is called a 'Vapor canister'. Serves absolutely no purpose except looking ugly. but it is a requirement on all motorcycles built to be sold in california.

 

that canister is just another reason Cali sucks!
