Street Bob mpg

Checked mine when I filled up today got 43 mpg bone stock 14 FXDB. I was testing fuel gage and thought I had it down pretty low. Fuel light was on and remaining miles indicator showed low range (under 10 miles I think ) but the bike still had a gallon in it ??? Just trying to get a feel for the true range of a tank of gas. I haven't been on any long runs yet

The fuel guage and light are useless, I think they are there for more of a decoration. On that note, I fill up around 160-170 miles, and usually have a gallon left in the tank. I ride my bike like I stole it, so Im sure I could stretch it out farther if I was lighter on the throttle.
My habit is..fill up, reset trip meter, ride, and fill up again around 160.

Too many things affect gas mileage. I get a combined 34. My rides are short, and I never get into sixth gear on the interstate. I shift @ 3500 rpms and ride @ around 28k to 32k. I warm the bike up to 125*. Running a PV tune. I have 2013 96 ci.
The Specs say a Dyna gets 42 combined. So, it would be really interesting to get details from those getting close to 50 mpg!

I have a 14 FXDB. Engine is stock, stock A/C, V&H Short Shots. I weigh *cough* 250lbs.
Over 23 fillups, my average is 39.53mog. Highest is 45, lowest is 35. Average fill up is 3.7gal, and the average miles between fillups is 150 (some were in the 140s, a couple were 170-180, but mostly 150-160)
Looks like I could probably stretch a tank out to 170, but I would rather stop and fill up than worry about making it to the next station.
Hope you get it worked out.

Yeah Rusty that mileage is a little low especially for a stock bike. I weigh a little on the north side of 250 and fueled up yesterday and got 43 mpg. I would agree with Jesse 81 you need a tune up. I would suggest a SEPST and dyno, you will love the way it performs and the mileage will be better and the engine runs cooler. Good luck.

I have a 2009 Fxdc with V&H straight shot slip ons, other than that the bike is stock. On a recent trip to PA. I got 47 mpg. I am 230 lbs and ride conservatively most of the time. But I have rode this bike til nearly empty(210 miles)and filled it up,took 4.9 gallons. One thing i did notice, not sure if it really means anything but I fill up with the bike on the kickstand and notice that it took a little more gas at fill ups than sitting on the bike. Just throwing this out there. I run amsoil in engine, primary and tranny.
