Default 3 brown wires

Screwed my bike up today.

Heard it was easy to install a sportster tach kit - "just" slice the wires from my speedo and splice the plug onto the wires from the tach harness.

Yeah, right.

3 brown wires. 2 on one side, one on the other. The one on the single side seems to have a white stripe. It is so faint, I can not really tell. The other 2 are oh, so very slightly different in color and one has many fine wires, while the other has fewer, more coarse wires.

I did my best. Now it's all dead - no odo, speedo or tach. But the idiot lights all work.

Does the plug go on backwards? It got dark on me...

Seems like you would need a wiring schematic from a dyna and a sporty to see what wires do what. Have you tried a Google search?

No point in any of that when the 3 wires are so close to each other in color that I can not tell them apart. I'm still looking at my stock harness and now I can not see the white stripe.

Just grasping at straws here, but is it possible that the wires are dirty and that is why the colors are difficult to differentiate?

This is the same diagram I used with no issues. Are you confusing the purple wire for brown? The purple/ green wire is where your tach and speedo get it's info

it's a 2007 so I was going to suggest some contact cleaner, a rag and an air compressor. But I believe that bell has just been rung! ^^
