Harleys are fast enough bikes, the crotch rockets truthfully have more power than they can use and they eat up tires like no -ones business, a back tire will last about 6,000 miles and cost you $250 just for the tire.. plus then you have valve adjustments which is not cheap or easy to do on a 4 cylinder bike and the gas mileage is probably not as good...so you can say the metrics are faster but you can also say the Harleys are more practical.

Too bad the bike was as rough as it turned out to be....If it was as good as it looked in the photo, it'd been a great little hot rod.
I'd have probably bought it anyway and fixed the stuff that was wrong with it.
It could have turned out to be a good project bike....Already had all the "go fast" stuff on it.

Smart move. I recently traded an 05 Scion TC for an 04 BMW R1150RT, even. The TC needed an AC compressor and an alternator. The RT, nothing. I made out OK. We were both happy with the deal. That's all that matters.... tp

I hear ya. Ive traded 3 times in my life straight up. 1st I was 19 and traded a 86 Honda Shadow 700 for a 280Z rust bucket. I remember like it was yesterday, the Z had a bad battery and It blew BOTH headlights out on the way home (50 miles) I got home somehow without killing myself or some other poor person. I think back now how foolish I was by driving home with no lights at night, stupid kid. 2nd trade I made out like a bandit on, traded a 89 Corvette vert pretty nice maybe a 8k car for a SUPER nice 23 T Bucket. That thing was sweet built by a pro and was 100% awesome and 100% dangerous. Sold it for 14k a few months later. And finally 3rd. I traded a wicked nice 56 Chevy 2dr post 16k car at least for a 2001 Mustang Steeda vert superchaged with 17k actual miles 1 of 2 built that yr. That was a hard trade and still think I lost on that deal a little. Sold it for 14.5k.

Any decent 55-57 Chevy is worth its weight in gold, today. Just like 63-66 Vettes and 64 1/2-70 Mustangs. I stopped playing in that field years ago. Switched over to motorcycles. Much cheaper and easier to find. Would love an original H1R Kawi 500 triple, at a decent price, but other than that, I'm happy with what's in, and in front of the garage, today. tp

Thats what my brother and I discussed after he left. I was trading a VERY nice car for it. If I had the coin I would have offered him 6k for it just to fix it up. But there was no way I was trading a 10k car for it straight up. On a side note. If your interested in the bike I can PM you the guys info.
Thanks, but I already have a Dyna hot rod and I'm in the middle of an FXR Twin Cam project that'll probably take a year or so to complete because it has to take a back seat to work that pays money and riding my Dyna.
